We're sitting in the studio putting the final touches on the record. I can't believe it's almost over, but I can't wait to see the whole thing come together.
Sooooo yesterday we played at Exit Only. The great thing about Exit Only is that the White Eagle is just across the train tracks for some pre-show fun.

Hi. It's been a while. The album isn't quite done yet, but we are in mixing land so the end is near. Some of the songs have gone through a final mix and sound really amazing. This has been the longest stint for Paper Brain in the studio and it has definitely been worth all of the effort everyone has put in. I'm not sure what we will do when our stay at KBC is over. I think we will all have Shay withdrawl. Now that the end of recording is near there are many other tasks to be done before the album makes it's way into your hands and heart. But until then you can enjoy these pictures and video.
Mike, Shay and I work out some harmonies, but then Shay had to go and show off.....why did I quit piano lessons??
Mike practicing for the Price is Right.
Paul (black shirt hiding behind the post) shows Shay and Tanner some magical moves on the tape decks.
Hi! so it was back to the studio last thurs, fri and sat. I think we were all glad to be back, getting inspired and having more fun than two guys in wolf shirts doing the wolf bump. This album is going to be ah-may-zing. seriously. With the help of Shay and a guest appearance from Ross the final tracks on the songs are coming together better than any of us could have imagined.
So, with that said here are some pictures to take you there....awwwww.....
Eating food is important. Very important.
Adam giving the songs some ambient rain stick action.
I dared Adam to eat a cracker with a slice of cheese and some peanut butter on it. It was actually good!! who knew?
This is Ross. He's awesome. He plays a saw, it's lovely.
This is me checking my "brain age". It's serious business.
can't wait to be back in the studio this week...see you then!
Jeni will have the studio blog #4 for you soon, complete with actual pictures of us this time (that was my fault), but I couldn't resist sharing this video with you. Yesterday I woke up and decided it was an appropriate day to wear my purple wolf shirt. Somewhat coincidentally, Shay also heard the same calling. The end result was the undying power of the wolf, and a chest bump that will live in infamy.
There'll be more photos and videos to come! -adam, aka JibJab

So this week we are not in the studio, thus I have nothing really exciting to tell you about as far as recording. But, Adam gave me some studio pictures from last week....

So, Saturday morning and we just finished tracking a glockenspiel track that sounds really amazing. Oh wait, I just looked at the clock....it's 1pm so I guess it's not really morning. Depends on how late you stayed out last night I guess. Drums and bass are done on all the songs and now it's just guitar, piano, vocals and the extra little bits that are the really fun part of recording like dog barks and kazoos.
It's really amazing how hot and humid three bodies and some recording equipment can make a room. Outside it's 68 degrees, but it's gotta be at least ten degrees warmer in here. Strangely we're all wearing sweaters and sweatshirts......maybe we're all really reptiles.
Since I have no new studio pictures to post I will post some pictures that I like to look at...maybe you will like them too.
Hi. I'm in charge of the studio blogging. I didn't do a very good job last week, so this is a catch-up post :)
Thursday we loaded gear and set everything up. The first day in the studio is a lot of levels and logistical talk. It's also a day of us getting our brains set to studio mode. One drawback to being in the studio.....you can't watch the season finale of The Office! Other than that it's totally awesome.
Friday was drums. We're tracking live, so we are all playing, but the drums are the only thing really being recorded. There was one bass track that was a keeper, but only one.
Saturday we finished the drum tracks and moved on to bass. Adam and I snuck in a viewing of The Office finale online.....oh wow. It was good!
Overall I have to say the studio is really great. Shay (the owner, engineer, producer) is a lot of fun to work with and every day I was impressed with his knowledge and the fact that he could play our songs on any instrument after hearing only a couple of takes.
Here are some pictures that Adam took (he's in charge of studio photos)
Mike and I tinkering with the organ....it is so lovely.
